A few days ago, I was discussing Spanx, the body-slimming control phenomenon, with a friend of mine when the topic of Spanx bras came up. These bras are meant to offer comfort, support, no VBL (“visible bra lines”) and of course, elimination of back fat. Sounds good right?

I have never tried a bra from Spanx, but I do know that at the price tag of $62 for a bra that truly looks unappealing seems a bit outlandish. I mean, that’s almost the cost of two bras from Victoria’s Secret!

Have you ever tried a Spanx bra? It truly seems like they would be comfortable, but it just seems to unappealing to wear a bra specifically to prevent “back fat”. It seems like it is just another one of many padded bras, but with a soft hosiery back. What’s next, Spanx nursing bras?

At the ESPY Awards, Victoria’s Secret (and my favorite) Supermodel Miranda Kerr was sporting a classic white gown, glossy vintage waves and killer red lipstick.

Miranda looks like she was emulating actress Veronica Lake with her wave-over-one eye hairstyle. I loved this classic style and thought that it was a nice departure from her young and playful looks.

Timesonline.co.uk suggests the following technique to get a hairstyle like Veronica Lake:

- Use a shampoo that gives hair sheen, but won’t weigh it down.

- Apply a protective styling product. Avoid traditional setting lotions.

- Dry your hair with a hairdryer until it is almost completely dry.

- Part the hair in a deep side parting. This creates Veronica Lake’s “cover-one-eye” curl

- Use a wide-barreled heated tong to curl small sections of hair. Begin at the top of the head and work through to the mid layers and underneath. You should not curl the hair under.

- Place the tong on top of the hair strands close to the root and wrap the hair diagonally; do not wind it straight. As a result, you will get a wave rather than a dodgy party curl. Remove the tong, keeping the wound-up hair together and pin close to the head with a small clip.

- Once you have finished the whole head, and the hair is cool, remove the clips. Use your fingertips to tease the curls into looser waves. Spritz with hairspray.

I’ve decided to focus on fragrance for the next few posts. So, to kick things off, I am talking about Victoria’s Secret Sexy Little Things perfume. I love this fragrance! I have a small roll on that I use all the time… it smells so good!

Victoria’s Secret describes the scent as a “Fruity Floral” with top notes of apple, waterlily and osmanthus (which I just googled and found out was an Asian flower). The fragrance has middle notes of jasmine, honey suckle, and lotus and low notes of cashmere woods, musk, and iris.

To me, this apple scented floral is a lot more complex and interesting than DKNY’s Be Delicious or Red Delicious (which I have also).

At $39 for 1.7oz, this product would make a great gift for anyone that enjoys a girly, sweet scent!

Bring on the Maxi’s! In keeping up with this wonderful trend, our favorite reality girl, Kim Kardashian, is rocking an awesome teal maxi dress that looks very much like (or could possibly even be) this cute dress from the Victoria’s Secret catalog. Loves it!

The “ultra teal” dress also comes in “sour cherry”, “chocolate”, white and black. For such a versatile item, this dress is a steal at $108.
