Dr. Woods Daily Exfoliating Facial Cleanser Review

I recently received an opportunity to review some natural cleansing products from the Dr. Woods line.  I have been using Dr. Woods Daily Exfoliating Facial Cleanser for several weeks now.  There are many things I like about this product.  First and foremost, the cleanser is meant for all skin types and contains black soap, gamma tocopherol, organic shea butter and botanical extracts.  It is meant to gently exfoliate, heal blemishes, neutralize free radicals, moisturize and condition.

dr woods daily exfoliating facial cleanser

Dr. Woods Daily Exfoliating Facial Cleanser is 100% Natural and 100% Vegan.   The cleanser smells fresh and clean, without being overly cloying.   In the shower, I usually apply a small amount to my hands or to an exfoliating facial pouf and then apply to my face using circular motions.  After using this product, my skin does not feel tight or dry, and I have not noticed any increase in breakouts or any sensitivity to the product.  My skin is pretty sensitive, so that’s a big deal for me.   I love how a little goes a long way (this bottle will seriously last me forever).

I have been enjoying this product and feel no need to switch to a different cleanser any time soon.  I am also excited to report back on additional products from the Dr. Woods line, and will keep you posted!

Have you tried Dr. Woods products?  What is your favorite from the line?

Vermont Soap Organics Peppermint Magic Bath & Shower Gel Review

If you’ve been reading Dolce Beauty long enough, you’ll be sure to notice a pattern in the scents that we like around here.  I am a big peppermint fan.  So, when I met owner Larry Plesent from Vermont Soap Organics at the Natural Products Expo, I was really excited that he gave me a sample of their Peppermint Magic Bath & Shower Gel to try.  This product is an Organic Castile Bath & Shower Gel which is made by mixing Aloe Castile Liquid Soap with a special extract of vegetable gums and glycerin.

The ingredients are listed as: Saponified organic oils of coconut, olive and jojoba, glycerin/vegetable gum extract, organic aloe vera, rosemary extract, to which Vermont Soap adds natural essential oils for scent and effect.  You can’t get much simpler than that!  At $8.49 for an 8oz bottle, you can’t really go wrong with this product, especially now that it is USDA Certified Organic.   The best part, other than the clean and refreshing peppermint scent, is that this product lathers up nicely and does not dry out your skin.  The Vermont Soap website does thoughtfully mention that if you have very dry skin already, this product may not be best for you.

If you are not a peppermint lover, there are also Lavender (another DB favorite), Sweetgrass Shea, Sweet Orange, Tea Tree, and Unscented versions.

Have you tried Vermont Soap products?  Are you a peppermint fan?  Let me know in the comments below.

Deep Steep Rosemary Mint Dry Oil Body Spritzer Review

deep steep rosemary mint dry oil spritzerI am a huge fan of body oils, so I was thrilled for the opportunity to test out Deep Steep Rosemary Mint Dry Oil Body Spritzer at Natural Products Expo East.  This body oil is non-greasy, fast-absorbing, and smells unbelievable.  Deep Steep Dry Oil Body Spritzer comes in a 4oz spray container and contains Coconut, Pomegranate, Apricot Kernel and Olive Oils.  There are no parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, mineral oil, artificial fragrances and it is vegan and cruelty free.

This product comes in Lavender Chamomile, Tangerine Melon, Honeydew Spearmint, Grapefruit Bergamot, and of course, Rosemary Mint scents, all of which sound amazing.  I applied Deep Steep Dry Oil Body Spritzer on damp skin after showering and was pleased at how soft my skin felt without feeling greasy or weighed down by a heavy oil.  This product was really light, smelled great, and felt truly moisturizing.

Deep Steep products are natural and affordable; the Dry Oil Body Spritzer retails for $13.95.  Also, all of their scents are available in various products so you can layer your fragrance for a longer lasting effect.

Have you tried any Deep Steep products?  What is your favorite scent?

Cleaning with Mudd? – OSEA Ocean Cleansing Mudd Review

Recently, I was given the opportunity to test out OSEA Ocean Cleansing Mudd.  This product is to be used as a daily cleanser for oily skin, or a weekly exfoliant for normal skin. This product doesn’t look very appealing with it’s deep green/brown shade, but it is actually a wonderful cleanser that has a minty and refreshing feel to it. OSEA’s Ocean Cleansing Mudd contains organic seaweed, which is great for your skin.

There are many other interesting ingredients in this product.  According to OSEA’s website:
“This unique marine-based daily cleanser removes impurities while clearing up blemishes and controlling excess oil production. Macrocystis, Laminaria and Fucus, highly concentrated in minerals, trace elements, amino acids and vitamins, serve to exfoliate and purify clogged pores and remove dead cells, leaving skin smooth and invigorated. Tea Tree Oil promotes a healthy pH balance and improves skins appearance. Balanced to dry skin may use regularly as a terrific deep pore cleanser and exfoliant. May be used as a great makeup remover and shave emollient.”

My skin can be sensitive on occasion, however, I used this with no adverse effects.  It is also pH balanced, which is a nice feature to have.  Although it may be a bit pricey at $42 (oseamalibu.com), my skin truly felt pampered and clean after using this product.  I am interested to try it for shaving as well.

What do you think?  Have you tried this or any other OSEA product?  Let me know in the comments below.

The Soap & Paper Factory Oil Diffuser and Solid Perfume

I recently had the opportunity to try out some great products from The Soap & Paper Factory. I am definitely a newfound fan of this awesome brand and truly enjoyed trying their products.

Lavender Oil Diffuser

I love lavender! It is such a relaxing and calming fragrance. I was really pleased to discover that the lavender fragrance of The Soap & Paper Factory’s Oil Diffuser ($32… you can get $10 off now with the code DIFFUSEME12) was not overbearing or made with any harmful chemicals. It is vegan and has no additives, paragons, phthalates or dyes. This oil diffuser was not too strong for my small bathroom, which was a plus because sometimes I have had negative experiences with too strong of a scent. Now my bathroom is like a lavender scented oasis. Well, it’s still messy, but at least it smells relaxing!

Bella Solid Perfume

Solid perfumes are one of those products that I am never sold on. I love anything in a rollerball, but there are times when a solid perfume comes in handy. For instance, if you are traveling, a solid perfume is a great option because you don’t have to worry about accidentally spilling your perfume all over your other toiletries or makeup bag. The Soap & Paper Factory’s “Bella” scent is a blend of Grapefruit, Litsea, Bergamot and Black Pepper. It smells citrusy, with a hint of Earl Grey tea. Just apply the solid perfume ($18) to your pulse points or you can even use in your hair (because it is all natural and made of good-for-you jojoba, beeswax and sunflower oil).

Have you tried any of The Soap & Paper Factory products? This brand is seriously so cute. Definitely a good gift idea as well! Check out these items and more at their website.

Barleans Chocolate Silk Greens Review

Recently, I have been trying to eat healthier, exercise more, and make smarter choices when it comes to my body.  I wouldn’t call this a “health food kick”, because I generally try to eat organic and natural products when I can, but more of an overall improvement of my lifestyle.

Barleans Greens Chocolate Silk

On a whim, I decided to pop into my local Vitamin Shoppe and pick up some items one day when I noticed Barleans Chocolate Silk Greens on sale.  I am a fan of the nutritional value of green foods and figured this could be a tasty way to get the goodness of those greens without having to eat like a rabbit all day.  I checked the Amazon.com reviews on my phone and decided this would be well worth the $28 (marked down from an original price of $45).  This seems a little pricey but there are about 30 servings in there, so that’s not too bad.

Barleans Chocolate Silk Greens is a tasty shake, similar to chocolate milk, that you make at home by mixing one scoop of delicious chocolatey powder with 8 oz. of milk or water.  I chose Silk Almond Milk (Unsweetened Vanilla).  A quick, vigorous, shake of my Blender Bottle and I was ready to taste.  Overall, I would say Barleans Chocolate Silk Greens is great!  It tastes delicious, is sweetened with Stevia, and only has about 35 calories per serving (plus whatever liquid you add it to).  I am definitely a fan.

As far as health benefits go, Chocolate Silk Greens contains many antioxidants, organic greens (spirulina, barley grass juice powder, spinach juice powder, broccoli juice powder, parsley juice powder, aloe vera leaf powder, many more), flax omega and fiber blend, and enzymes and probiotics.  Awesome!  It would be really hard to get all of that nutrition from food alone.

Have you tried Barleans Chocolate Silk Greens or the regular Barleans Greens before?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
