Hayley Williams Beauty Tips – SELF Magazine Feature

hayley williams paramoreWant to look like Hayley Williams? Check out these beauty secrets from the edgy and lovely Paramore front-woman, featured in July’s issue of SELF Magazine.

In a perfect world, you’d always have ample prep time to look polished, but, hey, this is real life. “I’m late all the time, so I need to put on makeup quickly, especially when crowds of people are waiting,” Williams says.  “A cat eye is my go-to. It’s so easy!”  To get an easy cat eye look, try LORAC Front Of The Line Pro Liquid Eyeliner or MAC Fluidline.

“The healthier my hair, the better it looks.” Her healthy hair secret: Moroccan oil Treatment, $32. “I put it in my hair, and then let it air-dry.”

“I’m a makeup hoarder!” Williams says. But she wasn’t always a beauty junkie.  As a teenager, she didn’t wear any makeup, not even ChapStick.  “I love skin to have a no-makeup look.”

“My mom couldn’t get me out of the house unless I got to wear two different-colored socks,” Williams remembers. “I think of nails the same way.  I like nails that are loud and vibrant.”

Nicole’s Top 10 of 2008 – Number Four – MAC Fluidline

Oh, what would a cosmetic countdown be without MAC Fluidline?

What can I say about this miracle product? For those of you unfamiliar with MAC Fluidline, this is the holy grail of eyeliner — better than liquid, pencil, and cake. This gel eyeliner is budgeproof, smudgeproof, waterproof, foolproof, and lots of other ‘proofs too.

I’ve made a video review comparing this gel eyeliner to another product on the market, which you can view here.

Of course, it’s not without flaw — but MAC Fluidline easily makes it to the top of the list. I currently have Blacktrack, a rich black shade, and Dipdown, a chocolate brown. Fluidline retails for $15, which sounds high but this stuff lasts for ages!

Are you a Fluidline fanatic? What is your favorite shade?

Video Tutorial: Not-so-neutral Eye Look

In keeping with the theme of video posts, I have another one for you today! This is a little eye look I did… I basically was just testing my skills on the camera — still a bit shaky — but I figured, what the heck, I’ll share it anyway. My plan is to do a few looks over the weekend and post them throughout the week from here on out, in addition to my normal reviews and whatnot.

This look is a little bit bolder/more fun than the average neutral look, and I only did it with two colors. I really love the Pure Luxe Purple Aura eye shadow that I used in the video, and I plan on using it a lot more often! Anyway, hope you enjoy, and let me know what you think!

Video Review: MAC Fluidline vs. Jane Be Pure Mineral Gel Eyeliner

Hello! Here is my first video review! I know my video editing skills are somewhat lacking, but I hope you like it :)

I decided to compare Jane’s new Gel Eyeliner from their “Be Pure” Mineral collection to the queen of all gel liners, MAC Fluidline. Although the price points are different, MAC at $15 and Jane at $7, the Be Pure Mineral Gel Eyeliner was quite the competitor. Wanna see the results?

Let me know what you thought!

Get The Look: Eva Longoria-Parker

Author Nicole    Category Celebrity, Makeup
Dolce Beauty recreates Eva Longoria-Parker’s Look! Here’s how we did it:

Eva Longoria-Parker
  • Start off with a clean, moisturized face!
  • Apply a light layer of foundation or mineral makeup, if necessary, just to even out your skin tone. Follow up with concealer for under your eyes or any spots you may have as well. CoverBlend by Exuviance is a nicely moisturizing concealer that will work great for this, but any good concealer will do.
  • Since Eva’s look is glowy, there is no need to tone down any excess shine, unless you are oil-crazy. If that is the case, just dust a little bit on your T-zone and call it a day. MAC Blot Powder works well for this.
  • To get Eva’s signature glowy tanned skin, try Benefit’s Hoola bronzing powder, which gives a nice matte, tanned finish.
  • Now, move on to your eyes. Be sure to maintain your eyebrows, as they will frame this look. Tweeze or wax any unwanted hairs and then fill in with brow powder. If necessary, set with brow wax or gel. I like Benefit’s BrowZings for this.
  • For the eyeshadow, start off with Urban Decay Primer Potion to hold your shadow in place all day, and then use a coppery shade over the entire lid (such as Stila Eye Shadow in Ray, or NYX Ultra Pearl Mania in Penny).
  • Apply a thick layer of black liner to your top lid, being careful not to extend the line past the eye! MAC Fluidline (Blacktrack) gives you excellent wear and flexibility. Also, apply a thick line to the bottom lashes as well, be sure to smudge out for Eva’s sultry lash look.
  • Now, apply a coat of Mascara, such as L’Oreal HIP, which will add dramatic volume and length to the top and bottom lashes. To pump up the look, you can add false lashes to your top lid and use mascara to blend.
  • Very lightly dust on a slight blush, such as Benefit’s Thrrrob! box powder. You want the blush to be very faint, and only apply to the apples of your cheeks.
  • Now, use a highlighter, such as MAC Vanilla Pigment to accentuate your browbone and cheekbones. Smile pretty so you can see the apples of your cheeks as a guideline of where to apply the shimmer. It should just be faintly above this area, making a “C” shape between your cheek and brow area. This will give you Eva’s fantastic golden glow!
  • Finish off the look with a pink liner applied all over your bottom lip, such as NYX’s Barbie Pink, and coat with your gloss of choice. I love C.O. Bigelow’s Lemon Lip Creme for a natural look.
Enjoy! Any questions or comments, feel free as always :)

“Strawberry Shimmer”:
